Make your own shippo,
beside the artisans.
A one-day cloisonné workshop at the Tamura Shippo atelier. Working with the same tools our artisans use, you will design, wire, enamel and fire your own piece — and take it home with you.

Real tools,
the real process.
This is not a one-hour souvenir class. In a small group of one to five guests, you spend a full day on genuine cloisonné work — from drawing the design and setting silver wires to laying in crystal-glass enamels and firing in the kiln.
The atelier stands among quiet rice fields in Shippo-cho, Ama — a day of deep, unhurried making in the birthplace of the craft.
Good to know

Take your piece home
If your piece is finished on the day, it goes home with you. If it needs more firing, our artisans will complete it and ship it to you.
